The report reviews the empirical literature on energy efficiency technology adoption and the role of time and risk preferences. After exposing the conceptual framework of implicit discount rates, the empirical findings on the determinants of adoption of energy-efficient technologies in private households is reviewed. The report further provides a review of the theoretical concepts, methods of elicitation, and empirical findings on time and risk preferences.
